All of the teaser trailers that we researched are shown below. (using YouTube)
They all share similar conventions such as the quick fades in and out of black, dialogue over the black cut scenes and also some text, i.e. production companies, slogans etc. The only issue that occurs is with the teaser trailer for 'Shutter Island'; the time length is too long and it also gives too much away about the plot of the film. This is more like trailer than a teaser trailer.
One of the most common conventions and key ideas of the heading "Teaser Trailer" is the word 'Teaser'. The whole point of a teaser trailer is that it teases you without giving too much, if any, of the plot away. This means that clips will be arranged out of chronological order mixed in with fades, titles, dramatic music and dialogue all with the aim of building suspense in the audience to make them want to find out what they just saw was all about.
