Film Classification

The film we are making for our coursework, to give it a sense of authenticity, will be given a age classification by us. For example, in the film there may be scenes of extreme violence, which will automatically notch it up to an 18, yet there is no sexual activity or deviance in the film what so ever which, depending on the amount of violence and whether it is considered sadistic, could possibly be see as a 15.
Other characteristics of our film would be that there may be some swearing involved, more to give it a dramatic effect rather than for our own amusement.
Quoted from the BBFC website, "Horror; Strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadistic or sexualised." This means that the film itself will have to be an 18 because of the amount of violence that would be in a full length feature film. The fact that we are only making a trailer means that there well be a lot less violence seen, it will more allude to violent acts, would mean that the trailer would in fact be a 15.

Focus Groups

I held a focus group meeting to gain opinions on my magazine cover. i did this in the hope that i could make my magazine cover a lot better. Here is a list of the elements that they recommended i change:

1)Include other stories down the side on the left showing what else inside the magazine.
2)Edit the main headline using certain effects like embossing, giving it more shadow etc. This will make it stand out and more noticeable to the reader.
3)Include a competition prize etc. Once again this makes the magazine seem more realistic.
4)Include a price. This is because without a price, the reader cannot buy the magazine. One of the most important factors in creating an authentic magazine cover.

The focus group seemed to have the same opinion that the magazine cover was good as a starting point but they seemed to see it more as a work in progress.
